A full back garden transformation in Bushey that turned a tired, overgrown outdoor space into a beautifully structured garden designed for low maintenance and year-round enjoyment. The project began with a complete clearance — the cracked concrete patio, overgrown borders, and patchy lawn were all removed and the ground levelled. We then installed block paving pathways in a charcoal and silver mix, laid in a herringbone pattern on a compacted sand and cement bed for long-term stability. The new sandstone patio seating area was positioned to catch the afternoon sun, with slabs laid on a full mortar bed and pointed with a flexible jointing compound to prevent weed growth. Fresh turf was laid over a prepared and levelled topsoil bed, rolled and watered to establish a lush, even lawn. The border planting scheme was designed with a mix of evergreen shrubs for structure and seasonal flowering plants to provide colour throughout the year, all set in a bark mulch to suppress weeds and retain moisture. A treated timber edging system provides a clean separation between the lawn and planting beds, keeping everything neat and defined. Finally, we installed low-voltage LED path lights along the main walkway, connected to a dusk-to-dawn sensor, adding both safety and a warm evening glow to the garden.
