This kitchen transformation in Rickmansworth began with a small single-storey rear extension to increase the footprint of the original galley kitchen. The extension was built with a large roof lantern as its centrepiece, flooding the entire space with natural light and creating a bright, airy atmosphere that the homeowners had always wanted. Structural steelwork was installed to support the opening between the old and new spaces, with the joins plastered seamlessly so the extension feels like a natural part of the house. We fitted a white gloss handleless kitchen with integrated finger-pull channels, providing a sleek, modern look with no visible hardware. The quartz worktops were templated and installed with seamless joints and a matching upstand. A classic white subway tile splashback with contrasting grey grout adds texture and a touch of character to the scheme. The breakfast bar extends from the main worktop run, supported by a steel leg, and comfortably seats three — ideal for casual meals and morning coffee. All appliances were integrated behind matching cabinet fronts to maintain the clean, uncluttered appearance. The plumbing was completely renewed, a new consumer unit was fitted for the kitchen circuit, and underfloor heating connected to the existing boiler system ensures the tiled floor stays warm underfoot throughout the year.
