Navy Shaker Kitchen with Belfast Sink

This character property in St Albans received a bespoke navy blue shaker-style kitchen carefully designed to complement its period features while meeting the demands of modern family life. The cabinetry was hand-painted in a deep navy tone with a durable eggshell finish, giving a rich, classic look that pairs beautifully with the property's original coving and sash windows. We fitted a traditional Belfast sink set into a dedicated base unit, paired with a bridge-style mixer tap in an antique brass finish. Brass cup handles and knobs were fitted throughout for a cohesive, timeless aesthetic. The natural stone worktops were templated on-site and precision-cut to ensure a perfect fit around the window reveals and chimney breast. Open timber shelving was mounted on concealed brackets to display crockery and cookbooks, adding warmth and personality to the space. The existing encaustic tiled floor was carefully cleaned, re-grouted, and sealed to restore its original beauty rather than replacing it. All plumbing connections were renewed with new isolation valves, additional double electrical sockets were installed at worktop height, and energy-efficient under-cabinet LED strip lighting was fitted to illuminate the work surfaces. The result is a kitchen that feels both traditional and practical — a space the homeowners describe as the heart of their home.
